More than Just Weeds: Innovations in the Cannabis Industry

Got Ganja?

Weed is slowly but surely breaking into the mainstream consumer industry and coming up through the cracks in some surprising markets. With increased legalization, marijuana consumption is now normalized for a variety of demographics. Pot is no longer just for college guys who want to avoid their piling responsibilities on a Saturday, it’s effects are no longer restricted to the temptation of ordering 10 pizzas while binge watching Rick and Morty, and the methods of use have (thankfully) sophisticated from the nifty apple pipe. Moms, grandparents, and ex-cops, just to name a few new users, are all reaping the benefit of legalization state-by-state throughout the country. A booming cannabis industry emerged from the public and legal sale of marijuana in numerous states, making consumption easy, fun, and above all, safe. Companies cater to a variety of cannabis users with products made from CBD (the non-psychoactive strain) and THC (the ‘classic high’ strain). For both recreational and medicinal use, cannabis companies are reinventing the classic “puff, puff, pass” method of marijuana consumption, causing the traditional mindset around this controversial product to go up in smoke.

Innovative Consumption:

When most people think of weed, they think of smoking. However, MaryJane (and her non-psychoactive sister), have a few new tricks up their sleeve, and consumers are eating it up… literally. Companies have elevated the go-to pot brownie to a plethora of CBD or THC filled goodies. With edibles, users know exactly how much cannabis they’re consuming, giving them more control. Whether you have a sweet tooth (drooling over Good Ship’s double fudge brownies), want your edibles to actually be drink-ables (Cannabinoid Creations comes through with hemp water and fun flavored sodas), or prefer a simpler, more direct method (Green Gorilla CBD oils are as easy as it gets; your body absorbs 90% CDB from consuming one pump’s worth) there is the perfect edible for every type of cannabis consumer. Companies, like the ones mentioned above, are just an example of the plethora of new brands that are taking advantage of the consumer appetite for cannabis products, putting new meaning to having the munchies (and cashing in on an eager market along the way)!

Innovative Consumers:

More and more people are recognizing the medicinal benefits of marijuana, diversifying the type of people who use it. Though there is still no shortage of the substance in college dorms, it has grown up quite a bit and is breaking into larger demographics everyday. People of all ages and backgrounds use weed’s healing and relaxing properties to enhance their health and quality of life. Yes, its shocking to see grandmas casually ripping bongs but what’s even more surprising is the number of companies dedicated to making cannabis products for… pets. Marijuana use is no longer limited to humans! There are many products made just for our furry friends. Companies like Canna-Pet, Treatibles, and Healthy Hemp sell treats, oils, balms, and more containing a safe dose of cannabis to alleviate your pet’s ailments and anxieties. Treats and capsules are the perfect way to relieve your pet’s internal sicknesses like digestive problems, anxiety, inflammation, and so much more. Oils and balms are best to ease your pet’s stiffness and increase joint mobility. There’s a CBD product for any of your pet’s specific health needs!

Innovative Gear:

Though new uses for cannabis are popping up like..weeds, there is still room for growth in the more traditional market around smoking the substance. Companies are reinventing how people use weed and are creating new, more convenient apparati to make for a more pleasurable marijuana experience. Cloud V makes vape pens that double as actual pens (who says you can’t work and play at the same time?). Vapor Slide has created specially engineered vape pens that can be used with a water pipe or by itself on-the-go, and Serra not only sells sophisticated, artful pieces to smoke from, but all sorts of items to simplify your cannabis use (their Ace Roller is a must have for joint lovers). Companies like these are maturing the marijuana industry and giving it an air of sophistication that is sure to attract a new market of consumers.
